Homework and Spellings

Homework Expectations

Reading Journals should be in school every day. The weekly homework activities will be linked to the children's learning. We don't expect the children to hand in tasks to be marked, but completing them at home will be invaluable in supporting the skills that the children will be learning in school. Please use your child's Reading Journal to record their reading and any homework tasks you have completed, this is your child's way to communicate with their teacher that they are completing homework tasks

Please see below how we would like the Reading Journals to be used.

Any questions, please speak to your teacher.

Volcano Project

This term we will be learning about Volcanoes in Geography. To support this, we would like the children to spend the next few weeks creating a volcano project - this could be anything linked with volcanoes and we encourage the children to be as creative as possible!

For example:

Research a famous volcano and create a poster/powerpoint

Build a model volcano

Investigate tectonic plates/earthquakes

The children are welcome to bring their project into school, or send videos or pictures to their class teacher and can also complete their project in pairs if they would like to.

The deadline for the project will be Friday 8th December so we have the time to share our projects with the rest of the class.

If your child would like to spend some time in school making their project, or use some of the school resources, they are welcome to attend a lunchtime club on:

Monday 20th November

Monday 27th November

Monday 4th December

These will take place in the Arts Space and they will need to let their teacher know before coming along.

Spellings

Each week, children will be able to access a new set of spellings on-line using our new scheme Spelling Shed. Following work in-class, they will be able to practise these, using a range of games online. For further information, please see the letter which was send to all parent/carers.

Maths

In Maths this term, we will be looking at multiplication and division for the first few weeks, we will then be starting our work on fractions.

Please continue to use TT Rockstars regularly at home to build on times table fluency.
