History

In Term 2, we went to Arnos Vale Cemetery to find out more about WW1 graves. We walked around the site and recorded information we found on war graves to look up using the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website when we got back to school. We even found soldiers that had lived in Bedminster!

We also learnt about Soldiers' corner and why lots of soldiers from different countries were buried in Bristol, as well as learning about Harry Blanchard-Wood, who received a Victoria Cross.

We enjoyed a fascinating walk round our local area, exploring sites linked to WW1. The walk was led by Michael Gorely of Historic England. We even got to recreate a photo of new recruits doing physical training and to practice our marching skills!
