Looking for a creative challenge?

Why not take part in The Great Big Art Exhibition.

The first theme is animals and you are being asked to create an animal artwork to display in your window or front garden. Sculptor Anthony Gormley, who designed the Angel of the North, has put together a short guide to making animal models out of clay, but children can make anything they like on an animal theme. There are loads of other fantastic artists and galleries signed up to help inspire you.

The idea builds on all the rainbow art people were showing in windows over the first lockdown and all the different things people create will form part of a massive national art exhibition. Once your artwork is ready, please send a photo of it to your class teacher, so we can include it in our virtual gallery.

Families can also share artwork through social media as part of the national exhibition. Use the hashtag #thegreatbigartexhibition2021 and tag the following handles:

Facebook: @firstsite

Twitter: @firstsite

Instagram: @firstsitecolchester

When sharing, please include your name, the city where you live and a short, one line description of your artwork.
