Spellings and Homework

Homework

In year 6 we will set homework weekly. Homework will be set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday.

In addition, we would also like your child to read regularly at home for pleasure. They will have a reading record and should bring this to school every day along with their reading book.

Spellings

We are now using a Spelling curriculum at Ashton Gate this year called CUSP Spelling.

There are no online resources or home learning expectations, though there are some home learning sheets which you can use with your child if you wish (see below).

We will be teaching spellings in class and using informal assessments within lessons, rather than carrying out a formal spelling test at the end of each week.

If you would like to support your child with practising their spellings, please see below a list of words that the children will be working on this term. Each set follows a pattern and is not exhaustive; we have chosen a selection which you can practice with your child and you can add other words following the rules if you would like!
