Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Welcome to Year 2! We hope you have all had a wonderful summer break and are looking forward to an exciting year of learning!

Year 2 teachers this year are Mrs Harris (Maple Class), Mrs Marston (Oak Class), Mr Brand (Rowan Class) and Miss Patel  (Sycamore Class). We are supported in class by Mrs Kewley, Mrs Palmer and Mrs Poole.

Oak Class will be taught by Mr. Bee on Friday. As you may already be aware Mrs. Marston is also Key Stage 1 Phase Leader and Friday is her allocated day to fulfil this role.

We are currently busy organising a visit to school by Bristol Zoo to support our Science work, as well as arranging a visit to a place of worship to broaden and deepen our appreciation of the diversity of our community.

Every morning the children will be met by their class teacher, on the playground, from 8:50. We are happy for you to stay with your child until the bell rings, however should you need to leave before the bell rings at 9:00 please ensure your child's class teacher is aware of this.

The morning drop off is the time to briefly share with class teachers any changes in collection arrangements and other small details that are relevant to your child. To catch in more detail please come and see us at the end of the day.

We are always thrilled when adults volunteer time to work alongside the children, if you are available to support the children in any way please let a class teacher know.

PE lessons for term 6

Lessons will take place in the morning and they will  be taught by Coach Sid.

We ask that the children's PE kits remain in school for the term, in a appropriate named bag. As in Year 1 the children will need PE Top, PE shorts and / or  joggers/leggings, as well as a warm outer layer for them to wear when required. Please can you ensure that each item is named, often the children's enthusiasm to put their PE kit away means they scoop up other children's clothing.

Please ensure you child has suitable footwear for PE as well as a hat and a water bottle, as the weather in September can be warm.

Sometimes there are timetable clashes which means that an individual class's PE time may have to change. Consequently if the children's PE bag remains in school they are able to participate in the lesson even if it is not their usual day. Many thanks with your cooperation with this request.
