We had a lot of fun this morning listening to all of the best poems from each class in Year 5 and 6. Everyone tried their best and made it very difficult for our judges to decide on a winner from each class for the poetry slam final.
We were very lucky this week to get a visit from one of our Ashton Gate parents, Dr Lesel Dawson, a senior lecturer in English Literature at the University of Bristol. She came in to talk to the Y5s about theatres, Shakespeare and Macbeth making links to our current topic in English and preparing for our visit to London next month. It was a lot of fun and the children learnt lots about the history of plays as well as some of the deeper themes in Shakespeare's Macbeth.
We've uploaded a couple of photos of the children freeze framing their favourite parts of Macbeth.
Thank you to Lesel for giving up her time to come and share her expertise in such an entertaining and educational way.
5T also enjoyed a workshop from Jess (Rosa's Mum) who is part of a theater company and has acted in some of Shakespeare's plays.. We explored various characters and scenes from Macbeth as well as learning lots of fun drama games and exercises. We had a great time! Thank you Jess for giving up your time too and sharing your talent with us.
