At Ashton Gate Primary School we will always hold the health, wellbeing and personal development of the children in our care amongst our highest priorities. It is a priority that arises out of the responsibility we bear for our pupils as whole and rounded individuals, and out of a recognition that physical and emotional health forms the essential foundation for successful learning.
The PSHE Education curriculum that we are following (Learn4Life) offers an integrated approach to the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning together with the broader aspects of the PSHE curriculum. This provides a model for consistent, progressive and comprehensive coverage of pupils’ entitlement in this area of learning.
Areas covered through 'Learn4Life':
- Economic Wellbeing
- Relationships and Sex Education
- Healthy Lifestyles including Drug Education
Below are associated documents and policies which refer to aspects of the PSHE curriculum and the wellbeing of children.
Living Streets’ Walk to School scheme
As a school we will be running the Walk to School scheme again this year which is linked with the national charity Living Streets and Bristol City Council.
Each month, all children can earn a special collectable badge if they walk, cycle or scoot into school at least three times every week. Hopping off the bus or parking and walking from
5-10 minutes away from the school will also earn a badge.
There is a different badge to collect for each month of the school year and the theme for this year is 'Our Neighbourhood' (including a badge designed by Daisy in Y6!)
We hope that you join in with this fun project so your family can enjoy all the benefits of walking to school!
